Schengen Visa Requirments For Swiss Visa

Switzerland is not a member of the European Union but is part of the Schengen agreement. This means that some nationalities will need to apply for a Schengen visa in order to visit the country. Applying for a Schengen visa will require multiple documents along with the Schengen visa application form. These include flight itineraries, hotel reservations, travel insurance, means of subsistence, and a no-objection letter. Flight itineraries are also referred to as dummy tickets and they are a reserved flight ticket to and from the destination country. Flight itineraries or dummy tickets should be purchased through specialized companies to ensure the correct documents are received. Embassies strongly advise against purchasing real tickets before Schengen visa application approval. Hotel reservations are requested to prove that accommodation is secured for the length of stay. Travel insurance is a mandatory document for a Schengen visa application as it will provide medical cover whilst abroad. A no objection letter should be written by an employer or teacher of the traveler and should state that the traveler is financially stable due to employment/scholarship status. It should also include that the traveler is expected to return to their home country to resume study/employment commitments. The Swiss Alps:

Along with France, Switzerland is among the most popular ski destinations in the world. Switzerland may have a reputation for being pretty pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for, especially in the Alps. Charming lodges in impeccable condition scatter the mountainsides and large plush hotels complete with hot tubs lie just minutes from the ski slopes. Towards the Italian border, the infamous Matterhorn mountain is found reaching a height of 4478 meters. The pointed and almost pyramid-shaped mountain is a top tourist attraction and is one of the highest mountains in the Alps. St Moritz is one of Switzerland’s most popular ski resorts offering fantastic ski and snowboard opportunities for all ages and levels. The nightlife in St Moritz is vibrant and over one hundred years of experience results in plenty to see and do including ice skating and sledding. Verbier ski resort is a hot spot for the more advanced skiers and, like St Moritz, the nightlife is loud. Here, there are many winter sports events held throughout the season. The highest ski resort in Switzerland and Europe is Zermatt. Panoramic mountaintop views of the snowy Alps, challenging ski runs, and the fields of fresh powder are what makes skiers and snowboarders return year after year. Other popular Swiss ski resorts include the Jungfrau Region, Andermatt, and Klosters.

Cities:

Unsurprisingly, many people assume that Zurich is the capital of Switzerland but in fact the capital of Switzerland is Bern. Built on the edges of the Aare River Bern is rich in culture, history, and beauty. The picture-perfect city is home to many attractions including the house of Albert Einstein and the UNESCO Old Town. BearPark is situated in the city center and is a place where the bears and cubs can play, fish, and swim. Although Zurich isn’t the capital of Switzerland it is still worth a visit. The modern and relaxed city of Zurich has an array of attractions and provides an insight into the life of the rich. A day of shopping in the old town and visiting Zurich’s art museums can be finished off with a top-notch meal at one of the many fine-dining restaurants in the city. One of the largest freshwater lakes in Europe and Switzerland is that of Lake Geneva. The French-speaking city of Geneva is extremely photogenic with its backdrop of mountains and expansive lake. Around the city of Geneva are many museums and monuments including the Jet d’Eau, a huge waterjet that sits in the center of the harbor. The International Red Cross And Red Crescent Museum document the work of the Red Cross whose headquarters are also in Geneva. Each Swiss city is vastly different yet all sunning in their own way making the diversity an addition to the adventure of traveling around Switzerland.

Natural Wonders:

The largest waterfall in Switzerland and Europe is the Rhine Falls. In the center of the waterfall are large rocks that have somehow not succumb to erosion. Located on the High Rhine, the Rhine Falls can be witnessed from viewing platforms, the banks, or by boat. Speaking of waterfalls, another spectacular waterfall in Switzerland is the Fairies Grotto in St Maurice. This natural wonder is an underground waterfall that is 50 meters high and stands above an underground lake. Located in the Swiss Alps in the Euseigne village are the Pyramides d’Euseigne. These strange pointed rock formations are around 9000 years old and were created during the last Ice Age. It’s believed that the Pyramides d’Euseigne were formed from the deposits of retreating glaciers. Another wonder from the last Ice Age is the Aletsch Glacier, not only is it the largest glacier in Switzerland but also the largest glacier in Europe.

Switzerland may be a small country, but the beauty is in large supply. The laid-back atmosphere around the country is a refreshing glimpse of the Swiss lifestyle. Switzerland’s countryside and activities attract adventurers from across the globe. So why not experience Switzerland’s culture and beauty for yourself on your next trip
