However, all the people who are residing in these states don’t automatically get exempted from getting the visa. For instance, a US green card holder whose roots go back to a region which doesn’t come under the list of the countries that are allowed to have visa-free entry must apply for the Schengen visa.

Not only that, if a US passport holder has been refused to make entry to the european region, due to any reason, must also apply for the visa at the consulate or embassy of the selected destination. Same goes for other parts of the world.

Different embassies and consulates worldwide only provide travel visa to the foreigners living in the current country when they have a temporary or permanent residence permit.
